Dentist in Carol Stream for Teeth Cleanings

Dentist in Glendale Heights Illinois providing comprehensive exams

Stratford Dental recommends that each of our patients see us at least twice a year for a comprehensive dental exam. Maintaining good oral health is essential in preventing pain, tooth loss and costly restorative dental procedures. As a leading Glendale Heights dentist, we will provide a comprehensive checkup to determine any possible problems. This includes tooth decay, cavities, cracks and gum disease. We can also gladly replace older and weakened dental work such as silver-colored fillings and discolored crowns.

If you live in the Bloomingdale and Carol Stream area, call us at (630) 980-3880.  We can help schedule your exam and help you learn how to stay healthy year-round! We also have online scheduling available for your convenience.

Comprehensive Exams

The main benefit to having a Carol Stream teeth cleaning and comprehensive exam every 6 months is that we can manage minor dental issues before they become more problematic. If a cavity is left untreated, it can quickly grow and destroy an entire tooth. A tooth that is cracked and left untreated can break-off if not discovered in time. If gum disease is not discovered early, it can easily spread. In fact, the advancement of gum disease can lead to more serious health issues including tooth loss and oral cancer! Catching these dental issues is crucial in controlling them.

What we can prevent, we don’t have to treat. Educating our patients about dental disease is the most important goal in our Family Dental Practice. We start by educating our patients

Oral Cancer Screening

We include an Oral Cancer Screening at every six month examination by Dr. Brian Evans to each of our patients at no additional charge, because we care about you and your health.

This specific cancer is deadly and oddly silent in our society.

49,750 Americans are diagnosed with oral cancer annually and causes over 9,750 deaths, with 1 person being killed every hour.

Most people are not aware that oral cancer has a higher mortality rate than cervical cancer and prostate cancer, killing one person every hour of every day!

Generally, Oral Cancer has no symptoms; however, some of the most common signs to look our for include:

  • A lump in the mouth or on the lip.
  • A sore, lump or ulcer in the mouth or on the lip that is not healing.
  • If you see a lump in the neck.
  • A white or red patch on the gums, tongue or lining of the mouth.
  • Abnormal pain, bleeding, or numbness in the mouth.
  • Oral pain that does not go away.
  • Tooth loosening.
  • Bad breathe.
  • Abnormal taste in the mouth.
  • A feeling that something is caught in the throat.
  • Chewing difficulty or pain.
  • Swallowing difficulty.
  • Sensory loss of the face.
  • Difficulty opening the jaw.
  • Dentures that are fitting poorly or becoming uncomfortable due to swelling of the jaw.
  • Tongue problems.

Sensitive Teeth

At Stratford Dental, Dr. Brian Evans and his team practices gentle dentistry and offers cleanings for patients with sensitive teeth. It is common for adults to avoid visiting the dentist, worrying that their teeth will hurt or feel worse through the examination or the cleaning that follows. By working with the expert Carol Stream teeth cleaning dentists, you will feel comfortable regardless of how delicate your teeth are. We also can provide a few sedation techniques. This way, you won’t have to feel anything while receiving your comprehensive examination and cleaning. Whether you need direct pain medication or just something to relax; our staff can put together a treatment plan to include sedation to ensure you remain comfortable.

If you live in the greater Carol Stream area, it is critical to understand the reason why teeth become sensitive. Most commonly, it is attributed to the wearing away of the enamel on the outside of the teeth. Continuing visits to the dentist will ensure that your teeth and gums remain healthy. Otherwise, avoiding dental visits will increase the sensitivity. During your comprehensive exam, please let us know about the pain you have been feeling or any changes that you have noticed.
